Friends of the Triangle Appeal

Since it opened its doors 10 years ago the Triangle Community Centre has become a vital part of village life. It provides a meeting place for over 50 different groups and societies and offers an important child-care provision for many families. The Triangle caters for everyone, from mums visiting the baby clinic, to exercise classes for our senior citizens and its doors are open for activities from 9am to 11pm, 7 days a week.

What you may not know is just how much it costs to keep the Triangle open - over £1,500 per week. This covers the costs of rent, insurance, cleaning and caretaking, heat and light, maintenance and refurbishment and the employment of a part-time manager.

This cost goes up every year above the rate of inflation and has to be raised by the trustees. Much of the income comes from room hire and activities organised by the Triangle and the remainder comes in the form of grant-aid from three tiers of local government.

The problem the Triangle faces is that this grant-aid is expected to be cut in future years and if the centre is to continue to flourish the trustees have to find ways to put the finances on a more secure basis.

The purpose of this comment, therefore, is unashamed - we need your financial support. You are invited to become a ‘Friend of the Triangle' and make a regular monthly donation through a bankers order. If just 150 families gave £5 a month we could replace the grant money we expect to lose and push ahead with further improvements to the facilities.

How to become a ‘Friend of the Triangle'

The form is in two parts: The top half should be sent to your bank who will set up a standing order. The bottom half should be returned to the Triangle.

If you are a standard or higher rate tax payer you are urged to complete the gift-aid section which will enable us to collect a further 28p for every £1.00 donated, at no cost to yourself.
